In April I had the pleasure of travelling down to one of the UK’s finest wedding destinations, Hensol Castle just out side of Cardiff to shoot a phenomenal couples big day. Starting at the simply stunning St David’s Hotel and Spa with it’s panoramic views of Cardiff vibrant Bay before travelling onto Hensol Castle just on the outskirts of the Welsh Capital. And here are the photographs from the day.

Lets start this amazing wedding at the end with a nigh shot outside Hensol Castle. I love this photo, but the problem is I love many of the photos from this day. It was wedding magic.

How beautiful does Leah look, a truly stunning Welsh Princess as she gets ready for her very special wedding day. Wow and I get to photograph such a beautiful Cardiff Wedding.

Leah was surrounded by a wonderful team of helpers, some who had crossed the globe to help her on the biggest day of her life. And the laughter and joy in the morning was amazing. These girls were going to enjoy themselves!

And the biggest wedding day helper of the lot and shoulder to lean on was ‘Mom’. Looking more like sisters it was also a big day for Mom as she was giving her most treasured possession away.

St David’s Hotel has a commanding position right on Cardiff Bay with amazing panoramic views and the architecture is rather amazing also. Leah and her wedding party make their way through the vast corridor onto the waiting limousine. Wedding day.

Your Carriage awaits Madam.

Two beautiful ladies arriving at the amazing Hensol Castle just outside Cardiff. Best Wedding Venue in Wales? It is a long wait for Bradley the other side of the doors on his wedding day.

It brings a tear to your eye and a lump to your throat watching two people start off on a journey of love.

What a perfectfrontage Hensol Castle has, a pefect backdrop for an amazing couple on their wedding day. This photo is finished in colour sepia and I think it suites it very well. A beautiful couple take their first steps as Husband and Wife.

I always love the confetti shots, it as much part of a wedding as the a big dress. Tradition. And how is Hensol Castle as a back drop to this oldest of wedding traditions? Fantastic.

I don’t think it would take a genius to work out what at least one of the families do for a living? I don’t get to shoot many tractors at weddings but when I do they make a fine prop for the entourage.

And here is a slightly wider version shot with a whacky fisheye lens.

What a fairy tale wedding setting in the grounds of Hensol Castle and the Castle in the background. A magical wedding.

Stunning wedding venue.

How gorgeous a couple do Leah and Bradley make on their wedding day?

Beautiful dress, beautiful bride and a dapper groom.

Hensol Castle has a stunning lake and very inquisitive (scary!!) swans floating past. The swans make a lovely addition to the image.

Stunning setting. Stunning couple. Stunning wedding.

Perfect symeterry as two swans join in. Nothing has been moved in Photoshop – the swans just obliged! If Carlsberg did weddings 🙂

A truly stunning bride infront of the finest wedding venue in Wales, Hensol Castle. An amazing dress, beautiful bride.

Sealed with a kiss.

Classical beauty in classical black and white. Simple portrait and totally timeless.

Back at the lake for a bit of fun, this sequence of photographs just sums up the love and joy from a very special wedding day.

The sun sets into would you believe it a very overcast day, some lighting trickery and several flash guns have produced a stunning enveloping sky. Magical.

Last of the series of three. I wonder which one they will pick for the wall? I wonder how many walls they have? A stunning day to photograph.

The first dance, the last official thing of the evening and wow what a first dance. Love is in the air.

Writing with sparklers on your wedding day is not the easiest thing to do but I think they have done a very fine job indeed.

How magnificent is Hensol as a background in the dark? I love night photograph it just brings a whole new dimension to the wedding day.

And how about a bit of black and white and silhouettes in the dark?

And lets finish the blog how we started with a kiss in the dark.
I had a ball in Cardiff and at Hensol Castle and couldn’t of asked for a better couple and family to work with. Amazing wedding and it was a joy to be part of it. Thank you Leah and Bradley for inviting me to the Welsh Capital to shoot my first wedding at Hensol Castle. Hopefully it will not be my last!
And may I thank everyone for reading the blog. And if you would prefer a slideshow of this remarkable day there is one here.
