In the UK we are rather preoccupied with the weather and probably more than ever when organising a wedding, the biggest day of ones lives should be perfect but the weather pays no attention to anyone! The bride and groom dream of blue sky and hope that the dreaded rain will stay away till another day. However stormy weather creates drama in the sky, moody light, it offers opportunities for photography which are just different.
The wedding of Alisha & John was a good example. They had a wonderful wedding at Cheshire’s finest venue the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel but the day was rather moody, in the day the was blue sky for a time but the photos I want to share are the evening ones, taken with moody light in the Oriental Gardens of the Grosvenor Pulford.
The Oriental Garden is a fantastic spot for wedding photography, with the sun setting over the Welsh hills it is a perfect backdrop. But on this occasion the was no sun, just a dark sky warning of rain. With a bit of camera magic the sky can be darkened and drama really added, and the soft moody light was still strong enough to illuminate the magical garden. Add a fantastic couple and entourage and you have the magic to create some wonderful wedding images.
Hopefully you will agree with me, a moody stormy sky can add a certain something to the wedding photographs.
